Re: Synthetic Oil?

I think those are amazing numbers on that light weight oil. Your engine must be "tight" ! I didn't think you could run that lo wt oil and then still get that kind of pressure. I get high, (35),...

Re: Synthetic Oil?

I'm with you, 20/50 Castrol is my final choice and very good results. 1/2 qt every 600 miles and change every 1000!

Re: 1935 or 1936 Water Temperature Indication

My '35 ran toward the top at running temp, about 3/4 the way. The problem I had was not knowing what the real temp was or more so what the other side of the engine was doing since they are using...

Just noticed this post and I'm surprised that the type of oil hasn't been mentioned yet. I've been searching this topic since I bought my '35 and settled with Castrol 20/50 oil, 5 qts at change. At...

Re: '35 Radiator / water out the tube

You're absolutely right 51woodie! Since I put the 180's in I no longer have that black soot coming out the exhaust and the plugs are looking normal instead of sooted up. I'll keep the 180's!!

Talking Re: '35 Radiator / water out the tube

UPDATE:

So after three day trips, none less than 60 miles and a few short runs in town, this is what I came up with.
1) Only fill the radiator up just over the cores to leave room for expansion....

Re: '35 Radiator / water out the tube

Totally understand your statement and I also think the radiator helped but the info from the radiator guy was that he didn't think there was enough interference built up inside the radiator to make...

Re: '35 Radiator / water out the tube

My radiator is original and the tube runs from the center of the top tank down the front and exits at the bottom of the radiator. My conclusion is that an overflow tank doesn't solve the water loss...

Very true, I just did that to my '35 last month and love the soft v/8 sound out the rear but no noise inside the cabin. Sounds nostalgic!!
