Re: *1927-early '28 AR differences*

That would be most helpful and I greatly appreciate the help! It all depends on how far they want to take it, but i think that is the direction they want to go.

Re: *1927-early '28 AR differences*

Ah, okay I get it now. After reading over all the SN decoders i could find, I was under the impression that the *A1 was the prefix, not just *A.

In that case, it would be 15066, not 5066. ...

Re: *1927-early '28 AR differences*

After reading into it, I thought that "A1" was present in every number, so the numbers after that would be the production number. So its not #5066?

Re: *1927-early '28 AR differences*

I will pick up a copy.

That is an interesting point. What is the correct usage for the label "AR"? is there a better term for an early production '27-'28 car besides "Early Production" ?

Re: What's it fit?

I believe this frame is early Dodge Bros. (1926 or '27). I have the same frame on my '26 roadster as a temp frame until I get my real '26-'27 installed...

Re: Oil,,,???

Well said Jack.

I plan to run 30W non-detergent oil in my new T motor for the first 500 miles (break-in) then switch over to full synthetic (Amsoil) as recommend by those who built my engine.

Re: Oil,,,???

...But for a original splash oiling system in a T, you can go any heavier then 30w oil. Thicker oils can't get into the bearings and can cause damage to the Babbitts...and in a real hurry too!

Re: *Mr.ModelT Re-builds his '26 Roadster ~ Official Build Thread*

Re: *Mr.ModelT Re-builds his '26 Roadster ~ Official Build Thread*

Mike,

I had no intention of using the Ford mag coil...just the magnets for weight and oiling purposes. My ignition system is a properly designed auto-advance Mallory unit and a good, hot...

Re: '21-'22 Coupe Broken Tranny, and a couple Pics just to please you!

A very good friend has a 1909 Brush Runabout.... Its titled as an '09, but I think it is actually a 1911 or '12.

The little Brush motor is the wildest thing. It lost a rod bearing last summer and...

Re: '21-'22 Coupe Broken Tranny, and a couple Pics just to please you!

Jim,

I hear ya :) I'm not suggesting a full resto.....just the mechanical necessities. Babbitt bearing material is good and strong, but it does age....and not well sometimes. A Babbitt motor...

Re: '21-'22 Coupe Broken Tranny, and a couple Pics just to please you!

Either way, The motor has to come out....and if it does go through it all and thoroughly!

Bill is right, as is Mike. I wouldn't just go for a "used" trans...because that is exactly what you might...
