Re: 8rt head milling

Thanks Ron, I guess there is a difference in the heads that just milling the 8rt heads won’t accomplish the same thing?

Re: Prices for turnkey Flathead?

Give Mike at h+h. He's not a salesman , just a straight shooter. I had a bad block so he built me a complete block with a 4" crank, .o6" bore, 3/4 cam and 8rt heads for $5000. He was a pleasure to...

Re: Temp gauge works backwards

Thanks for the input. The gauges all match in style and appear to be the same age so I don't think I want to change the temp gauge. It makes sense now why changing the wires on the gauge didn't make...

Re: Temp gauge works backwards

The gauges all match in Color and design. The speedo is stamped on the back with 1951 but I guess it's possible the temp gauge has been changed.

Re: hard steering - radials or bias ply

I have a 51 pickup and just changed from bias ply to radials. There's no noticeable difference in the effort to turn at slow speeds but the difference in the ride and handling amazing.

Re: Flathead v8 rough idle

I had trouble with my carb on a 51 pickup. I tweaked it , rebuilt it twice after soaking it in different cleaners and blowing through compressed air. Finally I bought a new carb and it ran great....

Re: dual exhaust, mufflers or not, what say you all?

Hey Blucar I too have a nice pair of Fenton cast iron headers hanging in the garage I don't plan on using. Would you use 1 3/4" pipes for the back pressure or your happy with 2".

Re: EAB cam with 8BA heads?

Thanks guys, I was thinking I wasn't let it breath correctly with the stock exhaust. I'll put some more time into the timing issue instead. I really don't want to change the distributor if I can help...

Re: EAB cam with 8BA heads?

Do you think I should relocate the vacuum source from the original port and install on a manifold source of vacuum?

Re: EAB cam with 8BA heads?

I've tried idle settings from 2 degrees to 14 degrees and it seems to run best at about 4. I don't really know what the advance is

Re: EAB cam with 8BA heads?

Thanks, everyone talks about headers as the holy grail. It would make my day if I can keep my manifolds and maybe just increase the diameter of the exhaust a little. I love the feel of driving a...
