Re: About oils

I run Rotella 15-40 in everything except the Solstice and Avalanche. Not because i think there is anything special about Rotella, they took most of the zinc out of diesel oils close to 10 years ago,...

Re: Wheel interchange

If you are THAT concerned about safety you should be putting the front fenders back on your car as it would be much safer should you get caught in a rain storm rather than removing them for "looks".

Re: PCV valve good idea?

I rebuilt my engine a month or so ago and was very disappointed with the oil leaks. However, perhaps 1200 miles later, the oil leaks have subsided to about half of what they were aft the rebuild. I...

Re: Mixing lifters

If you have a couple valves that require adjusting, just grind those valves to the proper clearance. If you go to the trouble of removing the can cam to change out those lifters, change them all. I...

Re: Will there be any model As left?

Correction, "Canadian OIL sands" and yes, it does matter. Not to derail this thread but, funny thing about the oil sands. The eco terrorists have a coronary if a barrel or two of crude gets spilled...

Re: Title goes with Frame or Engine?

I re-read my previous post and you are correct, I didn't word that right. What I meant to say was how would DMV determine whether a restamp is legit or fraudulent in the case of a stolen car?. Also,...

Re: counter weights are they needed?

I like the heavy flywheel. Makes the car almost impossible to stall on takeoff. One of the reasons i plan to teach my grandkids to drive on my Model A, That and how many kids today can say they...

Follow up to the "counter weight" thread.

I didn't want to hi-jack the thread on counter weights so started this one to ask my questions. If counter weights are so much better, why didn't henry incorporate them in the original design. Also,...

Re: Title goes with Frame or Engine?

You are missing the point. The point is that, if it's legal to restamp the VIN on a replacement engine, then how do you determine a "legal" restamp from an "illegal" restamp?. Yes, the old engine is...

Re: Oil Pump and Valve Chamber Question

My oil pump took some effort to remove. You don't really need to remove it to inspect, just take the bottom plate off and the gears will come out. Not much to them. I've had my valve cover off a few...

Re: Title goes with Frame or Engine?

So, I've been thinking about this for a couple days now and this IS one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Not directed at you Brent, directed at FORD. While this may be fine if one is...

Re: Body Cart for Tudor Body

I built one when i did the wife '28 tudor. I built it out of 2X6. However, I am building a new one for my delivery. I am using a frame that I got from a friend. Add a cross member and cut it off at...

Re: Title goes with Frame or Engine?

By that description, it is the frame number that is the VIN, the engine VIN pad is just the visible LOCATION for the actual VIN of the car. If you change the engine and RESTAMP the VIN ( that is on...

Re: Title goes with Frame or Engine?

Interesting question. It was fear of mine with my '31 fordor. I knew the motor had been changed and was afraid that, when I went to register it that somebody may be using the motor/reg already. Don't...

Re: Reverting back to a positive ground like original

OK, stupid question, why would one need to switch polarity to run a CB? (or anything else). Just put the positive wire for the CB to "ground" which is the positive side of the battery and the...

Re: A head question

Hmmmm, mine has "Model A" cast in the head as well. Just thought that was the way they were. Mine is NOT a high compression head and i don't think there is anything unusual about the combustion...

Re: Fumbled a piston

That was my thinking. Also, I would check the piston/wall clearance while you are there and if it's getting a bit sloppy and/or the cylinders are tapered, go .030 over. Price of the pistons is the...

Re: Rebuild generator or move to alternator?

There is no "wrong answer" IMO. All depends on what you want from your car. If you go with an alternator, it technically becomes a "hot rod". Nothing wrong with that (I have 2 hot rod model A's and 1...

Re: Running Board Step Install

Perhaps you could step in some water then get into the truck. Where ever you leave a wet foot print, put the plate there.

Re: Bill Williamson

I don;t think it's a matter of looking for the "answer than they want" but, rather, the more information/opinons the better. Otherwise, every post should only require the first response then be...

Re: Garage lights

I had 8-4 tube T5 fluorescent fixture in my shop. They were state of the art in shop lighting at the time and were quite good. Several years ago I replaced them with 4-250 watt LED's. HUGE difference...

Re: Dead Pertronix Coil

I suspect that you either have never had people working for you or, if you have, only a few and have been EXTREMELY fortunate in your hiring. To be fair though, most people that own a business and...

Re: Bill Williamson

I'm not sure what some find "better" about the barn compared to VFF. The format is similar with a few minor improvements and there are also a few minor features here that are better. The membership...
