If the tank is shot usually the sender is also erroded from old ethanol fuels also many of the new tanks use a different sender with a different bolt pattern from OEM,this solves that issue as well...

I would not trust the stock rear with an FE the torque would probably kill it off I have a 5.0 and AOD in my '54 which is a fairly easy swap and the automatic transmission is easier on that stock...

The 90's Mustang "header" is a definite NO Fit in a '54 Found out the hard way. The HEDMAN 88400's are a perfect fit but if price is your thing these do to. Since they got popular they have gone up...
