Re: Public Service Announcement: Avoiding Ethanol

Your sitting a a stop light, the car ahead of you starts to pull away, what looks like water trickles out the tail pipe. Its water and other corrosive chemicals. Guy brings me his weed eater to fix....

Re: Lincoln OD Transmission

I think they were to help you be seen , not to see with and the last American made vehicle I can think of that had them was the mid forties iron cross Dodge and Plymouth pickups. Tim

Re: Lincoln OD Transmission

I was looking at one for a 40 coup once but it was to much hacking that I wasn't willing to do for the guy. It looked like cutting up the X member and shortening the torque tube and driveshaft would...

Re: Headlight help

If it does the same on high beam and low beam it's a weak ground. If it's only one beam or the other it's bad feed somewhere in the line between the far end of the cross over and socket. Tim

Re: 8ba oil pump question

Been there done that, and in later rotary style pumps as well. It needs to be a smooth flat surface for the gears to ride on and to seal around the edge to the case. It's kind of like half of a...

Re: Does anyone else have this on their truck?

Ken , You have a good looking truck all the way around . I'm curious about that pump . Does it have a higher rear drive shaft gearing for the trucks road speed or is it just a pump with a manual...

Re: Does anyone else have this on their truck?

Wow! Shows what I know about fire trucks. It's kind of like a transfer case on a high boy ford and makes total sense. Tim

Look close and you will find a part number starting with a C which means sixties and a digit following it which means the year of that decade. I think sixties small block. Tim

Re: Does anyone else have this on their truck?

Yes that's a hill holder ,a neat thing to have on a big truck . Also ,Ken if your truck was a pump truck it does or did have a PTO to run the pump I would think. Is there a second drive shaft coming...

Re: 1939 radiator overflow tank?

Yes the 8ba's were pressurized systems. I don't know for sure about the output volumes of the two different pump styles, but I would be surprised if it was significant. Good thought though. Tim

Re: 1939 radiator overflow tank?

Yes I believe you should see coolant above the tubes in the top tank. Just because your car isn't running hot doesn't mean you don't have a flow issue. If the radiator just cant quite handle the...

Re: Final Drive ratio, will a 3.25/1 be too steep ??

I had a set of 3.00's with a fresh all stock 255 in my 42 pickup with 6.00 16's. It was way to much gear and a real dog unless you were doing 60mph or better on flat highway. It didn't do the clutch...

Re: Final Drive ratio, will a 3.25/1 be too steep ??

With the overdrive I would go with 3.50. It will work much better in town and a lot more fun to drive. Just a FYI I would have went with the ford 8" . Much lighter rotating mass as well as the entire...
