Re: 6 volt generator to 12 volt
Thank for your responses. I was interested in the specific difference in amperage output, at a specified RPM, between a generator with 12V field coils and a 6 volt armature, vs a generator with 12V...

No alteration and it is excellent condition as well as the wood floor boards. I solved the problem to my satisfaction.

6 volt generator to 12 volt
I have the 12V field coils, but was wondering if there a quantifiable advantage in amperage by using a 12V armature vs a 6 volt one ?

Re: Tattersfield, a piece of history.
Next time I get by where the heads are I will take a couple photos of the combustion chamber. They are very small compared to even the original 8.75 CR Navarro heads on the 59. These were vintage...

Tattersfield, a piece of history.
Several photos of Tattersfield heads if you have not seen them. These were on the old 59AB stock car motor in the roadster. The engine owner kept the heads and dual Tattersfieold manifold when I got...

Re: '40 Trunk seal 91A-7243720
Because I had the trunk lid off, I did that way because of the access. At the top, i used several thin pieces of wood along side the seal to push into the bottom of the channel, and masking taped...

Re: Best paint for painting over rust
I have used SEM Rust Shield with the catalyst over the years, and it has stood up to many winters of driving a Jeep here in the Northeast. I have used it on the '40 frame, and trunk floor. I have...

Re: Black single stage paint.
A little of topic, but the '40 coupe was painted black over my favorite color, cloud mist gray, probably with lacquer in the '60s. I never plan to repaint it as the some of the lacquer has crazed and...

Re: '40 Trunk seal 91A-7243720
I have installed the seal without the adhesive and it looks ok. I had the trunk lid off to do some other work. I may put it back on to check how the seal fits, but I expect it would be easier to...

Re: ‘39 Standard Generator to 12V
That's a great idea, getting the reman Delco generator from Rock Auto. I checked, and they are still available for the same price and shows they were used on at least 1962-1964 Fords. They list them...

Re: 12 Volt battery to fit '40
I measured a Group 24 & 24R at O'reillys, and they were both the same measurements, 10"L x 6/14"W x 8"H. The difference between the 24 & 24R is the location of the negative and positive posts. I...

Re: '40 Trunk seal 91A-7243720
Thank you 19Fordy. It appears in the 4th & 5th photos that the thin side of the seal is facing up. That is how the seal I got from DC fits. I wonder if the thick side actually seals against the edge...

Re: '40 Trunk seal 91A-7243720
I believe Carpenter's seal # 91A-7243720, and Drake's 91A-713540 are the same, with different #s, and likely made by Carpenter as it has DC Mfg. USA on it. Both illustrations, as poor as they are...
