Re: Trouble shoot 1950 8Ba initial start up Help

Before you start taking things apart, need to check what you are doing. A compression gauge will give you a good indication if the valve clearance is anywhere near correct. If there is a spark and...

Re: What hub/drum assy do I have here?

Yes, the file you sent me was 3.27 MB and the maximum size you can post (per the limits listed in the pop-up menu). This is 120KB. What computer are you using, or are you doing everything on your...

Re: Steering wheel shim

It is almost always a file size issue if you having a problem. Most camera/phone images are way to large to post and need to be reduced to below around 585KB.

Re: brakes

See if any of this helps. The big issue is finding the hubs and drums.

Re: 39 No fire at the plugs

I know, agree, but doesn't sound like how he has it wired. He keeps referring to a negative to the (-) side of the coil. But no idea what he is considering a negative.

Re: 39 No fire at the plugs

Ok, what does this mean "The positive 12 volts goes to the + side of the coil. Negative to the negative on the coil." Negative what? You need to keep in mind that this is most likely clear to you,...

Re: No door key

A locksmith should be able to rekey the tumblers in your door locks to match the ignition key. Phil would know.

Re: 39 No fire at the plugs

It is explained a little strange in the original post as far as how the distributor and coil is wired. It may just be a typo, but as written, it would not work. Flatjack9 provided the correct...

Re: Uploading pictures

I have never been able to load photos that large and that is way above the limit stated in the pop-up, which is 585.9 KB. May depend on how you are posting them, I use the thumbnails, and this is...

Re: Cold air plenum for carbs

Cool intake air always helps. In the 60s iced the intake before each run.

Re: Engine removal '38 deluxe

Cam thrust should be towards the block on a 59a engine and toward the timing cover on an 8ba. Could be an 8ba set of cam gears in there.

Re: Crank pulley

The problem is the original mounts are missing and the mounts that are installed are at the top of the frame rails. I'm not sure it might not be easier to relocate the motor mounts to the correct...

Re: Crank pulley

I don't know for sure on the pully switch, but I thought they would not interchange because of the crank difference you are referring to. Someone here on the Barn should know.

Re: Crank pulley

Are you sure you would have the clearance on the front of the engine? Sounds like there have been some modifications done, but that would be a lot sticking out on the front of the engine in a normal...

Re: Installation of IFS in a 1950 F1

I think there is an early Ford truck site devoted to these type of modifications. Can't remember the name of it at the moment.
