Re: Stromberg 97 Choke Screw Thread...

Thanks for all the help.

This sounds like a great fix but I'm in the UK so logistics and cost will out weigh me just using another top.

Re: Carburetor mystery

Small holes drilled in lids above the float bowl are usually from disused petrol fired heater take-offs.

As the take-off isn't there anymore the screw is plugging the hole.

Re: How To Check Condition Of Steering Worm?

Yes!

This is a worm on the bench. Like to see if its worth using before I go to the trouble of fitting it.

Re: How To Check Condition Of Steering Worm?

Sorry, bad typing. Should have been "suck it and see" ie. is the only way to know if a worm is usable is to set it up in a steering box and see what the play is if any.

Re: 35 window regulator stud

I'd say the channel is wrong.

The repro channels I had were really poor quality yet the studs from Drake were nice. I'd guess the channels are wrong drill the holes bigger.

Re: Picked up some more early Ford tools.

I've got a complete Snap-On spring spreader. It is a ratchet type like yours but much simpler more basic ratchet. I'll see if I've got a picture of it.

Mine works great but I find you have to keep...

Re: Let's see some skirts !

This is mine.

I don't know the history on mine as they came with the car, unfitted. I believe they are repro '40. If they are they fit really well.

Re: 1936 221 CU with Stromberg 97 stalls

Needs more idle mixture. Try winding the the two screws out in the base a quarter turn at a time and see if it improves.

'42-'48 Axles into '36

Anyone fitted the front and rear axles from the later Fords into a '36?

I know their wider but does 1/4" on the front and 1" or so on the back make them completely un-workable?

Thanks
