Re: 1952 f1 wiper

Expect to pay several hundred dollars for a factory electric setup (and you need the entire system, vacuum systems use different parts). They are a mediocre system, and weren't on a lot of trucks.

Re: F-1 Wiring Harness Covering

NAPA sells a similar product, not exactly the same. It's not a wrap, but a tube, made of asphalt impregnated fabric:

Re: 1952 ford f1 heater

Did your truck come from the factory with electric wipers? Or are the holes for them in your dash?

Here are some pics I took while doing some wiper mods. To be honest, I don't think the assembly...

Re: 1952 ford f1 heater

If the windshield isn't out, I'd guess you need to take it out to drill. Important to get them right or the wiper linkages won't clear.

Maybe I missed it, but did you verify the advance mechanism is working?

Re: 1950 Radiator Options

Aluminum radiators are generally not repairable, brass ones are. I wouldn't think in your climate you'd need 4 cores.

Re: '48 F1 rebuild

I believe the truck 4-sp also requires use of an 11" clutch.

Re: Guard your phone # ??

Scammers/spammers of all kinds (extended warranty, health insurance, etc) can spoof any phone number, and frequently just run down a list from 0001 to 9999 for an exchange. I once got a call from...

Re: Ohh look at that ..😏

I can't think what would cause that in normal operation. Wonder if someone at some point had to pound it out?

Re: Theft Prevention Ideas??

That happened here in Albuquerque. A guy was hauling a boattail speedster in an enclosed trailer, and parked for the night at a local motel. Trailer was gone in the morning. They found the speedster...

Re: ID year of engine? 49-50 or 51-53

Here's a view of the difference between rotator and non-rotator assemblies.

Re: 52 Flathead crankshaft end play

I'd think it might be best to remove the ring so it can be heated evenly in an oven, and fully seated. Not sure how to get it off tho, without damage anyway.

I think most S10 T5's used a 9.5" disc

Re: 52 Flathead crankshaft end play

Check that it isn't the PP bolts rubbing on the starter plate.

Re: Disc Brakes V Bendix Brakes-Which performs best??

I should have said no Ford Trucks used self-adjusters until the early 60's. With modern shoes and hardware they can be added to the original brakes.

Re: Disc Brakes V Bendix Brakes-Which performs best??

No self-adjusters until the early '60's, I believe those are F-100 brakes.

I have totally stock type brakes on my F-1. I've driven it cross-county on interstates much of the way, in heavy traffic...

Re: Speed bleeders for 1949 F1

If you have replaced your wheel cylinders, check the bleeder screw threads carefully. Mine are metric. :-(

Re: 49 F1 Brake issue

Maybe it's the camera, but that whole brake assembly looks rotated to the rear too much. The wheel cylinder should be parallel to the top of the grease shield, too.

Re: The 1BA block Mystery What's the Story ?

The engine that came in my truck (not original) is a 1BA block. The 1BA is cast into the rear of the block, nothing in the valve chamber. It has the cast OP cover, Rotamatic valves, and didn't have...

Re: Help Identifying a Transmission.

'51 was the first full year for column-shifted F-1's. I believe some late '50's were equipped with them, too. All '48-'52 trucks were open drive.

Re: 49 F1 shift pattern

The HD 3-sp is still only syncho'd in 2 and 3 in the Bonus Built trucks. It has a lower 1st gear, too.

I've been surprised how many F-1's came with the crashbox 4-sp, especially common in the...
