That is something that I have been doing a long time on small motors, outboard, lawn mowers, etc. YOu will keep from having problems with carb and fuel pump. I also use MNO JMO

My guess would be a blown head gasket. Does it have aluminum heads or stock? I had problems with aluminum heads till I torqued them down to 65 lbs. Just a guess. Good luck
