Re: 29 Woodie for sale

You could buy one finished for under $30,000.00. A really good one.

With this one you are looking at most likely years of work and many dollars of investment.

Wooden boats and antique houses. ...

Re: 29 Model A no spark on 2-4

New spark plugs! New points and condenser. New distributor body and rotor.

Even if that’s not the total problem, it will not hurt. Sitting around, doesn’t help.

Enjoy.

Re: Considering buying a T

We use to live in a small town in Central New York. Country roads everywhere and so were Model T’s and A’s, plus many other antique cars. You could drive them.

There not for everyone. Like an...

Re: Bent spokes

As other members have said, get new ones. The last unused set that
I had in the garage. I gave away. Not worth the work.

Enjoy.

Re: Shipping ....again

I sent a small box to an e-bay customer in Brattleboro, Vermont by USPO. We live in Connecticut. Maybe 200 miles between addresses.

It took three weeks for the box to get delivered.

I...

Re: Snow Chains

You guys are just writing these posts for the fun of it, RIGHT?

Tire chains, snow, ice, and salt on the roads?

Back in the day we drove what we called winter rats during the long snowy Syracuse...

Re: Synthetic Oil for Model A

I have been using 20w-50 HD for many, many years. Only drive 150 to 200 miles per year. Last time I dropped the oil pan, no sludge at all. Just a very light film of what might have become sludge...

Re: Wrap the steering wheel with rope?

I have in the past painted an original steering wheel. It helped for a few years but wasn’t perfect.

I finally replaced wheel with a new one. Did not take long, looks great, and no more dirty...

Re: Cold Outside So Do I Run, Crank, Sit or Ignore?

40 plus years I have done this.

About November 1st, our 29 is put away. I check it about every two weeks for mice and put a charge on the battery. In mid April she comes out of her annual winter...

Re: Gas seepage at steering column

I would second these comments. It is not going to get better. Brazing in the car is another real problem.

I would assume the car is a 28 or 29. Gas tank is not hard to remove. It can than be...

Re: door pin removal

My recommendation is to install hinge mirrors. Hinge pin removal can be a problem but just take your time. Use a penetrating oil and let it sit. If the pin is really worn, it could have a flat...

Re: Oil Pump Question

Does the oil pressure drop after the engine warms up?

With 20w-50 oil, our oil pressure gage starts out pegged, than drops to 3 to 5 psi after warm up. At idle, warmed up, gage reads 1 to 2 psi. ...

Last summer I was passed on Interstate Route 95 by a Packard with two people in the rumble seat. We were in a Volvo doing about 70 MPH, the Packard was doing much more. Everyone was smiling and...

Re: Front wheel bearing grease caps?

I have never used them. I once did buy a set many, many, years ago. They did not fit properly. So I never put on car.

Enjoy.

I thought that I was alone with my new age related problems.

Re: fan blade disaster

Back roads, little traffic, under 45 MPH. This has aways been our idea of where to be driving a Model A Ford.

Would you fly a Ford Tri-Motor with more powerful engines at 25,000 feet and 250 MPH?...

We’re just having a backyard conversation here so please don’t think I’m question anyone’s views.

I have been told that painting a license plate is altering it even if nothing other than the paint...

Re: Connecticut license plate color

In the state of Virginia, it is not legal to repaint license plates.

I don’t like drawing a line in the sand “but”.

In 1930 Connecticut passenger car license plates were BLACK with WHITE letters.

Take the time to go on line. The state of Connecticut will even...
