Re: Identify this alternator
Keep in mind that a stock 10si is NOT a one wire alternator. To convert a stock 10si to a one wire requires a kit to replace the stock VR with a self exciting one...

Re: Model A Registration Woes
EVERY state is different when it comes to vehicle registration. EVERY state. Advice for what works in California or Minnesota, or Arizona, or Colorado, or ANY other state is worthless. What works...

Re: Swapping to collapsible steering column?
X2. There are no shoulder harnesses, side impact door beams, crumple zones, collapsible steering columns, roll over structures, etc. The gas tank in in your lap, the tires have a skinny footprint,...

Re: What revs at 60MPH
50 year old bald tires at 67 MPH?
Please let me know when you are driving the car. I don't want me or my family near you.

Re: What revs at 60MPH
I would agree with John. However, "proper working condition" would have to be defined as being able to slide all 4 tires evenly. To do that, you would have to adjust the brakes differently than...

Re: Patina makes this too good to restore?
It's amazing that after all these years...and being a big truck...that the body isn't all dented and torn
I wouldn't have the guts to restore it. I'd leave it cosmetically as is and go...

Re: Frame serial number to obtain a title?
Every state has different laws about what you are trying to do. Make sure you get advice ONLY from those who have done what you want to do in NEW JERSEY.
You should probably research at New...

Re: Synthetic 680
Why so angry and degrading? You've got some good inf, but there are ways to share it without trying to make all here feel like they are butt stupid and should have already known what you know.

Re: Max Compression Ratio
I don't know the answer, but I would think it would depend on babbitt vs inserts, counter weighted crank vs stock, lightened flywheel vs stock, cam grind (especially overlap), valve size, port work,...

Re: Reliability
I'm not a purist, but I don't see anything on your list that would make the car appreciably more dependable.
I would insure ALL systems are in top condition. Not only the engine as PC/SR has...

Re: Model A prices...going which way?
I think we can take a guess at the typical difference between asking and selling prices. Bob's MEDIAN data (average adjusted for inflation) shows a pretty steady $18-20k average asking price over...

Re: Model A prices...going which way?
I think for the purposes of this thread (are prices of Model As going up, down, or staying the same), Bob's data is helpful.
If in 2000 the average ASKING price was $12,862, adjusting for...

Re: Model A prices...going which way?
