Re: Neighbor’s 54 F100 burnt / Salvage Sale ?s

Re: which pulley do I need?

My 56 292 had a 3 shive on it when I bought it. The car could have had an aftermarket AC at one time. When I put on AC, Vintage engine brackets, the AC compressor went on the PS shive and we moved...

Re: Master cylinder conversion

Make sure you get the correct diameter MC for a non power assist. I believe you will need a 7/8”. I made an aluminum plate and painted it black to mimic the old MC on the firewall.

Re: Seat Belts

A drill will snag your carpet. If no carpet do what you want.
A punch also breaks thru the metal and when you place the large washer rolls the splits back on the floorboard. Not a Sears but I went...

Re: 1956 312 Y block heat riser

I unwind the spring on mine in the first week as I live SoCal. Next was the intake gaskets with semi blocked crossover. I want intake manifold heat for better atomization but not to boil the gasoline...

Re: old 312 and oil

The right one on mine sees oil first. I’m told that’s normal. The left side could be plugged. There are ways to open up. Remove the rocker arm shaft and apply air to the hole the oil come up. You...

Re: Intake manifold

All bird valley covers can be used with modifications to the tube or a grommet. I do not know the PVC valve #for the grommet style. Any 61-64 car or pickup can be used with the stock hose connection....

Re: What Model is This 56

Still hasn’t said what the data plate on the left door under the windshield says. The end of the vin will give how late in the year. Also color, and model.

Re: 54 customline stabilizer bushing

Most new ones especially polyurethane are split. Cut it on the flat side and install it over the bar. The mount keeps it in place.
If you don’t want to do that heat them up in water to make them...

Re: old 312 and oil

You can run a y-block with the rocker covers off. These aren’t Chevrolets. I put a piece of cardboard between the springs and head edge with clear packing tape on it. No oil ever gets to the exhaust...

Re: Fordomatic and sending units

I had a 1962 medium case Cruise-O installed in my 56 Victoria replacing the Ford-O. Best thing I ever did for the car. I was able to use the stock column indicator by lengthening it about an inch. It...

Re: fuses 56 ford customline

There is an inline fuse that leads to the turn signal flasher that can really screw you up with tail light/stop lights. Go to www.classiccarwiring.com and get their laminated 11x17" laminated diagram...

Re: low restriction thermostat

miker is correct on all points. I use a 160* high flow for a Chrysler MOPAR 70's engine same diameter as a Y-block. If you run into a heating problem at idle or at intersections waiting for signals...
