Re: Pings with more than 10 degrees advance

Hi Mike. I've only been an A'er for a year, so not sure if my advice will help. I'd remove the valve cover since it's pretty easy. Then have someone crank over the engine while you look at the...

Re: Running Rough - Question

Is it possible there might be some debris on the bottom of your tank that was stirred up when you pumped the gasoline in? Maybe it's settled back on the bottom and that's why it's running smoothly...

Re: 2-blade or 4?

Here's a pic of the fan that is currently on my A. I'm guessing it was installed back in the 80's when my car was restored. It "looks" solid enough but I may consider replacing it. The...

Re: Running rough all of a sudden

Our old cars definitely keep us occupied! My A looked nice when I got her but I've spent the last 6 months "sorting" things out to make her a driver as well as a looker. (Steering adjustment, timing...

Re: The term "Huckster"...

This is what I think of when I hear someone talk about a "huckster"...;). Mr. Haney's truck was a '23 or '24 Dodge Brothers I think...

Re: The color and the shape!! Body styles and color photo thread!!

Nice color combo Mitch. I bought mine last year and it was painted by a previous owner back in '87. Upper body color of maroon is the same as lower which I think is not right. I believe the wheels...

Re: Caught red handed

It's amazing how easily a new crank gear that's been baked in the oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes will go on a crankshaft in a 15 degree garage...;)

Re: greenfield Village Old Car Festival

Hi Jeff. Last year was my first time at the Old Car Festival. My wife and I stayed at the Dearborn Inn and had a great time. We were also spectators, but I ended up buying my first A while I was...

Re: Radiator Screen

If you live anywhere near gravel pits, and the uncovered gravel hauling trucks that drop it on the roads, you'll appreciate having a rock guard on your A. Also, it comes in handy when a lifted...

Re: Transmission hard to shift into 2nd gear

Hi Ken. With the winter temps my A takes a little more effort and deliberation to move between gears until things get warmed up. Not sure what you are using, but I'm using Mobil 600w.

Re: Are you or are you not!!!! That is my question....

No way! Too much work. I only like doing the fun stuff...;). Just removed the crank gear with the engine still in the car and it was 10 degrees in the garage.

Thanks to everyone for your help and advice. I do wish I'd replaced the crank gear when I'd replaced the timing gear. I think that was a mistake on my part and definitely not the fault of the...

Re: Timing gear screw up...

Thanks guys! If temps stay warm enough it will be a good winter project. My main concern is pulling the crank gear off without damaging the crank. Thanks again. Len
