Lawrie, very important point. Once all is assembled with the timing plate screw tightened and the coil mounted and tightened down then the points plate will move slightly and upset the contacts gap....

You should not disconnect the battery while the engine is running, but I know some people use this as a test to see if the gen is charging but not a recommended test. Doing this can cause the voltage...

Generators can work either negative or positive to ground. All you have to do is polarize which way you want it to work. FUN PROJECTS voltage regulators and cut outs appear to not be making anything...

Conway. A battery charger should not be used for testing or polarizing a generator. Its for charging batteries only. Fit your generator on to your car and polarize it on the car as per the posted...
