Re: Model A Town Cars?

Not to hijack the thread, but I have often wondered how the folks who rode in comfort in the back would get heat. The manifold heater would seemingly only heat the driver's compartment.

Re: 1930 Tudor Quarter Windows Removal

Great article. Consider sending it in to one of the national clubs for publication.

Re: Float-A-Motor Questions

I recently went through this very puzzle. Brattons and Snyders diagrams both show no inner pads but an outer pad and the outer plate. I bought mine from Bert's and I was sent both inner and outer...

Re: Ford Model A Camshaft Inspection and Evaluation

One thing that annoys me about some videos is the way people move the camera (or phone) here, there, up, down back and forth..... Pretty soon I get frustrated and nearly dizzy. I exit out and move...

Re: Visual Diagnosis, Maybe....

The timing gear appears to have some bad teeth, but that could just be the lighting. What issues are you having with the engine that caused you to pull the pan off?

Re: Ford Model A Camshaft Inspection and Evaluation

It seems that Youtube is very much a part of our lives these days. I recently needed some videos to help me understand what I was getting into on a couple occasions: refrigerator door leveling,...

Re: Brakes

Hmmm. A more modern vacuum booster unit amplifies the push of the pedal to a hydraulic brake master cylinder, In the case of mechanical brakes, you need to amplify the pull action. I am sure...

Re: Coil or condenser over heat

I sometimes think that we fiddle with these cars just for the sake of fiddling with them, and as a result we over-fiddle and mess things up, only to have to go back and fiddle some more. A vicious...

Re: Coil or condenser over heat

I would say yes. A bad condenser is likely to have leakage that effectively shorts it out. Connecting another condenser in parallel will probably not help out unless you pull out the condenser in...

Re: Consensus on brake drums

Agree. Don't screw around with bands or trying to refurb the steel drums. Go with cast iron and the go-to shop for those is Randy Gross.

Re: headlight current tied to ignition switch?

No, no simple way, especially if your electrical skills suck.

Can it be done? yes.

Re: Anyone fitted a rear gas tank?

A friend of min has a 29 RPU with a very roached out tank. He fabricated a tank for the bed that looks like it belongs there. He uses a fuel pump. Obviously it takes up some useable space in the...

Re: Does Your A Start Right UP?

Most of us have forgotten to turn the gas valve on, So, Been there, done that. Pretty annoying to start it up for a parade and have lots of folks behind and then it dies....

Re: Does Your A Start Right UP?

Today is in the 40's here. I did a hand-crank from a cold start and the car has not been run for a week. I did two pulls of the crank with the ignition switch off and fully choked. Released choke...

Re: Does Your A Start Right UP?

Generally, mine stays running on the furst start, but with colder weather, if I remember, I will crank it with the key off and choking it for a couple seconds. Turn the key on and continue to choke...

Re: Could a bad tachometer make a Model A hard to start?

Unless it's defective and shorting stuff out, then I really doubt it. Disconnect it and see if it helps. I think your issue lies elsewhere. Colder weather will make it harder, and require a little...

Re: Side Mirror Installation Question

I've been searching for a 5" convex mirror. I went to a 4" convex and I am pleased that it expands my field of view, but I would like to go bigger. Does anyone have a lead on t 5" convex?

Re: Vehicle vibration

Many things contribute to engine vibration. I recently found that something as simple as reassembling an engine with the flywheel 180 degrees made quite a difference. Another issue could be a crank...
