Early 1931 Victoria leatherback
Early 1931 Victoria leatherback. Is there a bustle in your hedgerow? (Okay, that might be a bit too obscure a reference.)
My father bought this car in the mid-1960s and had it at least partially...

Re: Any tricks to fitting a new distributor?
That's the puzzling thing... the old distributor slips right in, no obstructions, it actually fits kinda loose and wobbles a bit when the engine is running. The new distributor body will seat...

Re: Any tricks to fitting a new distributor?
Update:
I ground the slots in the distributor shaft a bit deeper on each end. The shaft fits in the drive gear, but the distributor body just won't get seated on the head. In fact, it won't go...

Wanted - early '31 Victoria front seats
I'm still looking for the front seat frames for an early '31 Victoria. My car has some nice but improper Tudor seats, and I'd like to have the correct seats in her.

Re: Any tricks to fitting a new distributor?
Yes, both ends of the new shaft have the same slot measurement (9/32"). The socket in the bottom of the distributor has the same measurement, so the shaft appears to be seating all of the way in the...

Re: Any tricks to fitting a new distributor?
The total length of both distributors and shafts appear to be the same.

But I think I have discovered the problem.

Re: Any tricks to fitting a new distributor?
That's exactly the problem. Without the shaft in place, the distributor casting will fit into the head with the locating pin in its corresponding hole, but when I try it with the shaft, the...

Re: Any tricks to fitting a new distributor?
Good idea. I will try that to see if it helps.
On mine, both ends of the shaft will fit into the distributor. Perhaps the same is not true for the drive gear side. I'll try either end of the...

Any tricks to fitting a new distributor?
I am attempting to replace my old distributor with a new one. The old distributor has the one-piece shaft, and it drops right in. It fits kind of loose, and the distributor wobbles a bit when the...

Re: Sedan Dome Light
Yes. 1931 Model A Victoria leatherback. The dome light switch is on the passenger door pillar.
I was mistaken earlier. I chased down the switch wire, and it is connected to the terminal box...

Re: Sedan Dome Light
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but on which terminal does the dome light wire tie in at the terminal box?
On my Frankenvicky, the dome light wire is soldered to the cowl light crossover...

Re: Headlight wiring preference
Thanks. I neglected to mention that I currently have thru-wired sealed beam headlights, and I'd like to go back to lenses/bulbs/reflectors.

Headlight wiring preference
I'm starting the process of rewiring my 1931 FrankenVicky, to replace the old wiring, fix some weird connections and shorts, and possibly to address my problem of the generator not sending a charge...

Vicky front seats - buy or trade?
Does anybody have a pair of early-style front seats for a 1931 Victoria?
It appears that the seats that were in my Vicky (rebuilt in the mid-70s) might have come from a Tudor, and they don't fit...

Re: FrankenVicky
Correct. The Briggs repro body tag must have been put on when my father had her put together back in the '70s. There's no number stamped on the tag, so I don't know the body number.

Re: FrankenVicky
Sorry, the photo isn't very clear. I wasn't too worried about the missing bolts that hold the intake manifold to the exhaust manifold. Rather, my concern is the gaping hole in the exhaust manifold....
