What weight oil are you running? After a new build some rin in oil or at least a lighter weight oil. That pressure considering a rebuild with a high volume oil pump is up there but in my opinion...

Deck should be left alone!! Just a light clean up if really required.
The heads are where the machining takes place to get that 0.040 to 0.050 piston to head clearance. Best to actually measure with...

My understanding is:
The trapezoid centre holes were initial gaskets in use. Then to better control water flow circulating through the block the gaskets with the round centre holes were introduced....

My guess would be, spinning over with plugs out allowed fuel to be pulled through quickly and carb body full. Then with plugs refitted away it went??

Yes you do need to remove the square nut to refill the MC. When filling allow a small air space at top of MC to allow for expansion.

Nope didnt come with clips. does it matter where to start fitting and gluing given its a one piece unit?

Yep just that supplied instruction stated fit to lid. But will fit to body.
So to expose the seal which is in one piece to the sun and then should warm and take its flat state ready for fitting....

Yes I looked at Steele Rubber site and also noted that. So maybe fit to trunk around this area and forget trying to attach to trunk lid. As if done this way if alignment not correct would not seal...

So at a recent event discovered the trunk seal not quite tight enough as plenty water into trunk area.( called boot by us down under.
Received a new one piece seal NEW 1941-48 Ford / Mercury coupe...

With these "go fast mods ie engine swap would think checking brakes for good operation needs to be done prior a road test! Maybe new linings brake fluid etc.

I run similar radials on a 39 coupe & 38 PU. I have 35 to 36 psi and they ride well with this pressure.

Just now finished rebuild of a Holley 94 as above nil clips, a slight interference fit.
Mine clipped in firm at centre hole.
Maybe pin shaft worn or hole elongated.
New pin links can be had?...

I have a flathead stroker engine with a Chev HEI distributor has built in coil also.
The engine is on a test stand and recently just stopped. Nil spark!!
Took complete distributor into a parts...

Be sure you get it right first time as these Best Gasket big bore composite will not last more than one fitting. If you need to remove heads soon after they will delaminate!!
