Long shot BUTtry removing the RED wire from the coil and providing a JUMPER wire to the distribution from the coil. I had a problem with an ignition switch that had a intermittent open!

I punch out the porcelain center of an OLD spark plug. I us a compression tester with a rubber tip.

Maybe you should remove ALL body blocks and shims and see how the body alignment sits. Checking body blocks to make sure they are correct! You might have FRAME issues. Not difficult to do BUT gives...

Wheel failure on Interstate

When I restored my Model A , before I painted the wheels I checked them for RUST! If I found any I removed it by sand blasting. I would NEVER PAINT OVER RUST!!! My only wheel problem in 50 years...

You might consider making the timing in detention a little deeper so that when you insert the timing pin the indent feel is more noticeable. Helps with finding TDC!

3rd engine failure...getting frustrated

You might consider the ALL NEW “BERTZ 5 main block if you’re going to rebuild. The cost for the kit is reasonable!

Regarding the throttle and spark levers I would REMOVE the connecting rods to the distributor and the throttle connection on the rear of the engine. I suspect that the trouble is in the steering...

If you have vacuum wipers you can use that connection for your vacuum gauge.

If possible I recommend that you perform a VACUUM test! From the vacuum diagrams perform ALL the recommended throttle settings! You might see a vacuum reading indicating the problem.

I would remove the battery and perform a load test! While doing the load test tap around the battery with a soft mallet. If there is something loose it might show up. A 4 year old battery might be...

You might be having issues with the starter switch or the starter or even the battery might have a cell going bad. You can have the battery load tested quite easily.

WELCOME TO FORD BARN! I recommend you purchase Les Andrew’s first two books. They’re quite helpful to NEW and OLDER Model A owners. They are available from Model A dealers.
