I have my pump mounted underneath the car on the frame rail. I can clearly hear the pump over the car idling. Are the airtex pumps quiet?

You probably dont need to replace the carburetor. Likely just needs to be disassembled and cleaned. Rebuild kits for these carbs are relatively inexpensive and easy to do. The books you have should...

I had a similar issue with mine when i first got it. I found that the screen inside of the gas tank was plugged with scale/rust. I ended up removing the gas line from the carburetor and blowing air...

I havent had a a boil over or steam event yet. I think i’ll try some radiator flush solutions and see how things go. Then when winter strikes i will remove the radiator and have it flushed...
