AER Touring Motor

I have an unused fully rebuilt AER touring motor. It's a full insert, counter balanced crank, larger valves with a Stipe 330 cam. It has never been removed from crate/plastic. I bought this last year...

Followed HERM's advice and was able to get it within .001 at top and both sides. The bottom is still out about .020. But I believe tranny will pull that in.

I've read just about every post regarding how to align the housing . I know you should have no more than .006 between the 12, 3, and 9 o'clock positions.

Hmm - it didn't leak before i took it apart. Same components just a new seal. The seal seemed to fit in there very nice. Is it supposed to hold air???

Burtz seal question

I've got a crank with a turned down slinger. It's a full insert motor so I'm also using the bronze seal which slips into the block. The directions for the one piece nitrile seal say to pressure test...

Yes he has those size pistons. In fact, he mentioned having sizes all the way up to .140. Yes the pins came with; they have a tapered center too. Even nicer - he's a sinch to deal with. Very helpful....

No machinist here - just a hack who gets himself in trouble. The pistons Are from Rich at antique engine rebuilding. Small ring and short skirt. They seem like a quality piece. Hastings rings.

I put the pistons on a little diet. Took .034 off them. I was told by manufacturer that it would not be a problem to take that much off. With the gasket I should have .040 clearance.
