The pins are very easy to install within the springs. The end of the spring expands slightly.
If you make a tool to press these pins in, it must press on the shell of the pin AND the threaded...

Original specification was +.003" to +.0045".

NOS pins are much better than the repops for two main reasons. 1) they are round. Most repops I'd measured were not. 2) the way the NOS pins are...

Cut out the frustration and send me the housing.
Eliminating the interference also eliminates the designed torsional twist resistance.
If you are going to do that, install the neoprene bushings.

I just did this very same task last weekend on a '39. Took about two hours total for all four.
Want to ship them to me? I'll do them promptly.
It's easy with the correct tools.
