I’m 81 and still work in the garage just about every day. Been restoring cars for 50 years and my daughters say it keeps me young. Life would be awful boring without old fords....amen

Removing oil pan on 42-48 ford car
Have to remove the oil pan on 51 flathead with truck 8RT oil pan on my 46 Ford coupe.
Do I have to jack the front of the engine to remove the pan or is there enough clearance ?
At my age, want to...

Cast iron 2 groove wide belt crank pulley
I have a cast iron 2 groove wide belt crank pulley used on 48-52 ford flathead trucks. These pulleys are pressed steel but never saw a cast iron one. What were they used on ??? If I remember...

8RT truck oil pan question
On a 48-52 8RT truck oil pan with the large clean out can I access the oil pump pick up tube without dropping the pan ?
Traced my knocking noise to the oil pan and suspect an interference problem....

Jim, today checked oil pan with stethoscope and definitely coming from there. Pulled plug wires each cylinder and no difference. I know all my rod/main clearances are good as well as oil pressure....

Jim, I used the truck oil pan and will check that next for dents etc. Used a stethoscope today and my noise is loud near the fuel pump. Have an NOS AC pump, changed the diaphragm, and a repro push...

8BA noisy valve update
Pulled heads and intake and found 8 valves with excessive valve lash
Used the #1 TDC compression, adjust both valves, rotate 90 degrees, the adjust both valves based on firing order. Worked great,...

Update...Pulled heads and intake and found 8 valves with excessive lash using the #1 TDC method, adjust both valves, rotate crank 90 degrees, then on to the next cylinder in the firing order etc....
