I filed a coat hanger into a square shape and stuck 2 pieces off of the hanger into an old bill fold and soldered the hanger part to the bill fold.They protrude out of the holder about 1.5...

Thanks for the info. I have the latches apart now and I found the springs and pins at an industrial supply store.When it's time to refinish them I think I'll use POR 15 on them.

The motor is out and being reassembled after a ring & valve job.Those tappets were already in the motor so I thought I'd reuse them. I'll be rebuilding another one this winter and I have no qualms...
