Well, it has been a learning experience, anyway. Removed the starter. Expected to find broken bendix spring. Looks good. Am I missing something in the attached picture?

Battery/Starter Advice Needed
I have been focusing my headlights. So the battery was drawn down. Battery is two years old. When starting the A, the starter whirls, but does not engage.
Recharged the battery. Read 6.2 volts....

I gave up on trying to get the ebrake band fit. If
I take the emergency band out, the keyway out, the hub will go on very tight on the service brake. So tight that I can not pull it off by hand....

Thanks. Mine has to be the shoes, I think. The hub from the other side would not go on either. Both hubs went on the driver rear. Neither go on the passenger rear.

I have searched the threads. Tons of info on this. Maybe too much for my aging mind to sort out. Just new cast iron drums. All new brake parts. New composite service shoes. New woven ebrake shoes....

New to this thing. At 72, I thought I could learn something new. Maybe not.
Took all four wheels assemblies off including backing plates. Cleaned everything. Sent shoes out for relining.

Hub Production History
Pulled the rear wheel hubs today. Found that the are different. Someone must have replaced on somewhere along the line.
One side has 1/2" groove. Perfect for the red flanges on a Mitchell puller....

Cut a slit in the original clamp. Bend it open. Insert your new larger cable. Close the clamp up again just enough to hold the new larger cable.
