Re: Distributor clamp bolt causing no spark??

Check the wire underneath the breaker plate. They get old and frayed causing shorts.

Re: Spring removal and Columbia installation

It’s easier to remove the whole rear axle with torque tube as a unit then replace it with the Columbia unit. To identify the brake fluid , put some water in a cup then put a little brake fluid in it...

Re: W&H DuCoil V12 conversion

Yeah, I have a few ideas. Guess I’ll try them out and strobe it on the machine and see how it goes. Worse case scenario I’ll just use the mag points . I have a couple of them that has the 10-52344W...

Re: W&H DuCoil V12 conversion

Thanks for the pictures. I have a couple old conversions that uses the mag points. With that setup you must cut the contact springs off the bottom of the coil then notch the distributor housing to...

Re: W&H DuCoil V12 conversion

Thanks Tony, I have a short old 8mm home movie of a friend back in the 70s putting together a converted W&H DuCoil Zephyr distributor. I was able to crop a few frames from the movie but the clarity...

Re: Compression questions

Those temps with the heat gun aren’t hot. So why is the temperature gauge fluctuating? Perhaps a faulty sending unit ?

Re: Testers ?

I tend to stick with the analog stuff since I’m testing things that were made in an analog world. But that’s just me.

W&H DuCoil V12 conversion

Would anyone out there in Flathead Land happen to have one of the Lincoln V12 distributors converted to use on the V8 by W&H DuCoil ?I need a picture of the plate that holds the ignition points....

Re: Break-in gone wrong!

I’m wondering if it blew a plug out of one of the rod throws on the crankshaft. Keep us posted.

Re: Lincoln OD Transmission

Back in the day they would take the overdrive unit off the transmission and install it in the torque tube just ahead of the banjo to give you overdrive. I’ve wondered if there’s any of the old...

Re: Compression questions

Or clamp a balloon or rubber glove on the water necks and see if they start blowing up.

Re: Compression questions

Remove the upper hoses then remove the belt so the pumps can’t turn. Then fill the engine with water via the water necks until you can see a level. Then start the engine and look for bubbles in the...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

I zoomed in on one of the pictures and it looks to have a raised ledge underneath the intake. Also towards the rear it looks as thought there’s a little gap between the gasket and block hinting the...

Re: '35 gas tank yuck

I cleaned my 40 tank using the electrolysis method. Worked very good at removing all the rust. Slow but effective. I then sealed it after it was clean.

Re: 1951 Ford F3 stroker questions

I seriously doubt with that stroke that the rods are going to clear the block without some grinding using that bore size. I built a 4.250 stroker using Scat crank and rods and the rods just barely...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Look along the sides of the block just above the oil pan. A correct 40 block should have two humps on each side. They should be right where the pan gasket protrudes out some. I circled it in one of...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Take some pictures around the intake manifold where it meets the block . I suspect that the block is raised just a bit under the intake gasket.

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Post #6 shows a pretty good shot of the side of the block. I can see the gasket protruding where the bumps should be but I’m not seeing the bumps. I would like to see the intake surface. If it...
