Leaking gas tank

My 29 RPU has a very slight fuel leak. It doesn’t drip, it just “seeps” at the steering column support bracket. I recently installed a new support bracket that does not touch the tank (its fixed to...

Re: Faulty Flasher

I am bumping this thread because now I have a new problem: My new 6-volt 3-pin flasher makes the indicators work well (yay!) but it will not make the pilot light flash on the end of the stalk! I am...

Door bumper installation

I bought a 28-29 door bumper set (pictured) for my 29 Roadster Pickup but I cannot see how to install it without completely dismantling the door. Anyone got any handy tips?

Re: Faulty Flasher

[QUOTE=Bill G;2267442][QUOTE The flashers I have seen have two or three prongs. X is the power; L is the load, and P is the pilot light (not power).

Thanks Bill, you have solved my problem!
I...

Re: Faulty Flasher

Mine is not an LED flasher - it is for normal incandescent bulbs. On the flasher there is current at the "P" (power in) terminal but no current on the "L" (lights) terminal. I think there should be...

Faulty Flasher

I think my brand new 6 volt flasher unit might be faulty. Is there a quick and easy way of testing to see whether it is faulty before installing it in the car?

Re: turn indicator lights

Thanks Guys for your answers - some great wiring diagrams there. But on my 29 Roadster Pickup there does not seem to be any convenient place to install the flasher unit. There is not enough room...

turn indicator lights

Hi, I have searched lots of threads here about installing indicator lights but I still can't find a wiring diagram or any suggestion as to where is the best place for the flasher unit. I have a 29...

Re: Zenith float-level guage

Thanks Jeep Guy! That's the answer I was looking for. Don't know how I missed that very small hole. What a great resource this forum is! :)

Re: Zenith float-level guage

I'm still confused! Looking through the drain-plug hole with the plug removed, it appears to be blocked by the main jet. Surely that must block any fuel flow and prevent the guage from working?

Re: Zenith float-level guage

Thanks for your replies but I already know those things. My question related only to the drain plug - why connect the plastic gage hose to the drain plug, when any fuel leaking out the tips of the...

Zenith float-level guage

I am making a guage to get the correct float level in my Zenith1 carby. Richard Tompkins’ video shows a hose coming out of the drain-plug hole below the cap jet, but I am confused by that: If the...

Re: Stuck rear hub - how to get it off

I had the same problem. A combination of full-on heat and a good puller eventually worked, with a very loud "bang"!

Re: GAV valve seat

Thanks again everyone for your helpful comments.

Just to round this thread off: When I discovered there was brass in the bottom of the secondary well, my 85-year-old neighbor removed it using an...

Re: GAV valve seat

Thanks Guys,
Now I have a new (but related) problem: my new secondary well sits too high - see pic. Shouldn't it be flush with the flat surface of the bottom casting? I cannot see anything to...

Re: GAV valve seat

I have just found one published reference:

"The Gas Adjusting Valve housing's outside threads are 1/8" 27NPT (Pipe). Use Caution not to cut threads deeper, as it is a pipe thread".

Does that...

GAV valve seat

Shining a torch down my Zenith 1 GAV assembly hole I saw no sign of a brass valve seat, just a small hole. I assume it must be a threaded hole, so I would like to chase the thread with a small tap -...

Re: Broken venturi

Sorry, I should have explained: I decided to use a different lower casing without a stuck venturi, so I was pressing the broken venturi only out of the top casing. It is of course impossible to press...

Re: Broken venturi

Just to round off this thread: In the end I decided to make a pulling tool. This was a 1.175-inch "plug" that I pressed through with a hydraulic press. Once the plug was made on the lathe, the rest...
