I just rechecked and if I put it on the bottom of the coils as the Snyder drawing shows, then it would protect the crossover wire between the coils. That would probably work OK. Looks like I will...

I should have remembered that there at least 2 switches out there. I have a 29 and I may have fixed it by bending the contact inside. Still seems like a marginal design that will keep bugging me.

Just discovered I made a typo in my posting. The 6/32 should be 3/32. So I have one hinge with a 3/32 gap and the other with a 3/16 gap.
