Stop lite Switch malfunction - burned wiring

During a long drive in hill country yesterday I noticed that the ammeter was suddenly pegged all the way left. The car continued to run fine and eventually the meter began showing a charge again....

Handicapped Parking at Hershey?

Is there a handicapped parking area at Hershey? We've always parked across Hershey Park Drive, and then treked the long distance to the Park. This year, for the first time, I'll be pushing a walker...

While doing some research on another subject, I ran across this 1931 ad in the archive of our local newspaper. In addition to the information contained within the "testimonials", it was interesting...

Re: Repop steering wheel finish

Thanks for all of the valuable suggestions. I'll get busy and put them to work.

Bill W. - great suggestion about the potato peeler. Wish I had thought of it before grabbing the utility knife.

Repop steering wheel finish

When I acquired my 1929 Sport Coupe a few years ago it came with a steering wheel cover. The other day I removed the cover and found a great deal of molding flash along the parting line of the wheel....

Re: White tailpipe exhause briefly after starting

HL -

I neglected to mention that my coolant system is essentially "closed". That is, the overflow pipe is connected to a hose that leads to an overflow reservoir so I believe what the radiator...

White tailpipe exhause briefly after starting

Shortly after start-up there's a great deal of white exhaust smoke coming thru the tailpipe on my 1929 Sport Coupe with Mod. B head & carb. It clears in 2-3 minutes, and is not present while driving....

Re: Oil Pan Plug - 7/8"

Thanks for the good suggestions. The plug may well be part of a '28 pan. The car was represented as a '29 Sports Coupe, and I suspect it either was significantly altered over the years or may have...

Post Oil Pan Plug - 7/8"

Last week, after running the Coupe for the last time this year, I removed the drain plug and let the oil drain for a few days. Today I decided to replace the copper gasket before reinstalling the...

Re: What did you trade for a Model A?

A friend I was in school with 50+ years ago shared this story with me recently. It's his story rather than mine, but I thought it good enough to share:

"I traded for this car. The transaction went...

Cracked exhaust manifold

I removed my manifolds to correct an exhaust leak, and found that the waffle section of the exhaust manifold has a crack in it. I had planned to sandblast and repaint all of these units if they are...

Ames Horn ID

I noticed some rust bubbles inside the horn bell and decided to deal with it before it got much worse. That lead to stripping the paint off of the exposed components and then giving them a soak in...

Leaking Exhaust Manifold

I continue to work down the list of problems associated with the 1929 Sport Coupe I acquired 2 years ago, and I’m about to tackle a leaking exhaust manifold. As you’ll see in the attached photo, the...

Re: Radiator-Fan clearance

The engine contains a "B" head (embossed "C") on an "A" block.

I'll check the motor mounts later tonight or tomorrow AM.

As mentioned, the radiator came without spring mounts. The rad. pads sat...

Re: Backfire

I had the same problem going down a steep hill today in 2nd gear. The problem eased after shifting to 3rd. How do you check for an exhaust leak?

Re: Radius Rods fitting - again

Success!!
This afternoon I began to wonder whether might be some "polarity" (RH & LH) to these radius rods. After consulting the references I have (Andrews, Service Bulletins, etc.) and finding no...
