Re: Removing Lug Nut from Spinning Stud

So it looks like you were able to save the wheel. I'd be more worried that the hub was still flat than having a gouge especially after all of the work to get the wheel off. How deep is that mark? If...

Re: Do rivet nuts work?

I used rivet nuts to install my handmade metal floor pan beneath my roadster. works perfectly and I've had it in and out multiple times with no issue. I've been dealing with rivnuts for a long time...

Re: Light switch yardstick trick

Gaffers Tape also doesn't leave adhesive like duct tape does;comes up easily. Rips easily like duct tape, but its also more expensive. It's typically used to tie down wires to the floor or stage.

Re: Hood retainer, cage, problem

I had similar problems with my roadsters dash rail. I just drilled it out and tapped. If you're afraid you could probably use jb weld and tap the larger hole back to the smaller size. I wouldn't say...

Re: Carburetor leaking

If this is the case they can be repaired. I have soldered 2 and both have and still do work fine.

Re: Metal Stitching my Block

If you ever happen across a copy of the Victor Page Model A Restorer book I recall a section that discusses engine crack repair. Some distinctly antiquated repair methods were given. I'm not saying...

Re: Dang, Grease on the Headliner

Brake clean works wonders but may damage the fabric, I'd start with something similar to Simple Green or Purple Power however, since It's a light color fabric I'd try to find a generic degreaser...

Re: The Bounce

I would look at the springs, maybe something is cracked. Can you seen any evidence of frame repairs? If one side was repaired it could be stiffer than the other. Not that I've ever heard of this maybe...

Roadster v Coupe Body Work

I'm finishing up some body work on my 30 Roadsters quarter panels and finalizing the various radii on the front sections of the rear panels. Am I ok to assume that the radii of a coupe and roadster...

Re: Hydrolic Brakes

Have you ever bled the brakes out and changed the fluid? DOT brake fluid can crystallize and cause lockup, water intrusion will ruin fluid quickly. Has happened to me on a motorcycle before. Rust is...

Re: Rumble Lid Outer Skin Replacement

I just finished up doing the same, built one lid from two. Took way longer than I was hoping since I was trying not to destroy or distort either piece.

Re: Rumble lid vs Trunk Fitment issues.

I understand fitment is critical, I'm constantly placing the lid on and then removing. Much easier to do it right the first time than to have to redo it. There are plenty of parts of my project That...

Re: Rumble lid vs Trunk Fitment issues.

Thanks everyone, I was able to make the two halves fit together with some dolly work and some trimming. There's still primer work to do; I'm still inching forward .

Rumble lid vs Trunk Fitment issues.

I already know pictures would have helped with this. But didn't cross my mind at the time.

I recently purchased a rumble lid off a restored car, Looked good, gent I bought it from told me his story...

Re: A truck so nice, I had to own it twice.

I drive a Roadster Pickup and I'm 6'2. My head is largely above the windshield. So I have no line of sight issues.

Re: thread pitch- size for front wheel spindle

If the threads are damaged I would suggest using a thread chaser not a die. A die will remove more material and weaken the thread further.

Others might disagree

Re: New Focused-Beam LED Headlights

Purchased a set. The visibility is incredible. Still looks wrong to me, but I can't see them while I'm driving anyway. Mine flicker, previous LED's did too. I'll figure that out.

Re: How to Get Title to Grandpa’s A

In NYS before before 1973 I believe there were no vehicle titles, registrations were transferable. So signing a transferable registration is all that was needed. Of course I can't say what the story...

Re: body paint

Prep is always the key to a good paint job. Before I paint or prime a panel I always wipe with acetone, then wax and grease remover. I fear though that this will ruin your remaining "original" paint...

Re: Very slow air leak in tire

Tubes in cars are the same as tubes in a bicycle, albeit typically thicker. There's nothing special here though. One thing you should know is that Co2,is actually soluble in butyl rubber. This means...

Re: Poll: Showing or Driving or Both

I think I like rebuilding them most, that's not an option but that's my choice. Driving them would be my second choice. I do use the RPU as a truck,it gets plenty of attention when loaded up.

Can you post or message a picture? I do a fair bit of interior detailing, there might be an easy solution.

Re: WD40 as hand cleaner

I believe it's called "defatting" basically it pulls the oils out of your skin. Not Ideal. I have a friend that exclusively uses brake cleaner to clean his hands. He's not a patient man.

I try to...
