Wheel problem?

1931 Ford Vicky, very stock. Driver’s side front wheel looks like it wobbles 1/2”+ when turned, but is tight on the brake hub. Is the wheel bent? When jacked up, nothing is loose. Suggestions?

Re: Re-thinking shortened pitman arm

I have a shortened Pitman arm in my Victoria and it is great. It doesn't tighten up your steering tho... I haven't noticed a serious change in the turn radius. Tighten up everything to get the slop...

Re: 1931 Model A Victoria Leatherback

You might try the Victoria Association, I bet they have a tech article on it. I have a late 31, it had a thin Hartzcloth top with a metal strip across the front of the top. The Ford Service Bulletin...

Tic-Tic-Tic...

Aunt Martha starts fine, but I get a mild tic-tic-tic that usually goes away after a few miles. Sounds like its coming from the passenger side maybe. Is it a valve or tranny or ???

Re: '31 Vicky Holes in body For What ?

No holes like that on my Vicky. Had the top replaced last year and didn't see anything like that. Got the top kit from MN, excellent. Local guy did the install. Good luck!

Re: Forget Finding an Honest Man Diogenes, Find Me a Good Battery

I got an Optima a year ago and its fine, no muss, no fuss. Had to make a custom top bracket of wood and I use a Black & Decker battery manager with no problem in the winter. Good luck!

Re: Manifold heater time - what kind do you have?

I had no heater, but a Red Head gadget on the inside where one funnel shaped piece slides inside another, so you can have it closed, half open or anywhere in between. I opted for a novelty heater,...

Re: Vicky with OD

The Mitchell gear shift is close on the passenger side, not on the drive side. My seats don't slide, only fold. No problem with the folding part. It fits very close to the floor pan, I put some...

Re: Optima battery holder

I don't have a top strap because the battery can only go up about an inch before it hits the floorboards. The battery is sitting on a piece of 3/4" board with 3/4" side rails to hold it from moving...

Speedo cable too short, ideas?

I put in a Mitchell OD in my Vicky last winter. Bought a new speedo cable, and it keeps slipping out of the Mitchell cable housing. If it was 1/2" longer I wouldn't have a problem. Any ideas on an...

I have the rod mounted seats in my Vicky. Be sure to check when yours was assembled, there is some variation. They aren't the most comfortable seats for long drives, I use a pillow between...

Re: About Caster

Consider a shorty Pitman Arm. Put one on my Vicky and it really helped. Also put one on our club presidents coupe, she is almost 5' tall and LOVES that new arm!

Re: U-joint

I have a 31 Victoria and got a Lincoln sealed bearing U-joint from Drake Reproductions. Slipped right on, no messing with "gobs of grease"... Not sure it will fit your pickup, ask them.

Re: Checking the ammeter

I think my first one as original or at least over 25 years old. New one is a repro.

Checking the ammeter

I went to Puyallup, 350 miles and ammeter charging rate was good, 6-8. While looking for an electrical problem, I replaced the ammeter and this one shows +2... How do I know what the REAL amount is?...
