The narrow belt came on the Ford 8BA in 1949 for the engines used in some passenger cars. The wide belt continued being used for the Ford trucks in 1949 to 1953.

It must be a miracle on how the Vertex mags actually have an advance system. But they do. Oh and you can get them locked as well meaning no advance. :rolleyes:

Looking at the registry I can see where the body falls in the Body line production. The Murray number is B520A-12384. Not an early body more like a mid production...

One possibility if the rear oil pump idler gear was installed backwards {easy to do on the 8BA} the gear mesh will work for a short time then the gear will strip thus the oil pump will not turn...

If your referring to the plate that's located in the sump area of the pan running side to side when the latter 80 pound pump is used the plate is removed due to it being in the way of the latter...
