an 80.00 ,wire welder from harbor freight welder will do a fine job, low heat and spot weld every 1/4 in" let cool grind come back between spots repeat until you have a solid weld works great for me

thanks to all here are answers to some of the questions 1. there is no lock nut.2.yes the adjustment is tightening question is how. 3. yes there is a distinct click during tightening or loosening 4....

fwiw thought I have in the past been able to loosen stuck parts by boiling them in peanut oil , already has lubercating properties! just add heat works fine.+
