Hood alignment on 1928 AR Roadster

When I purchased my '28 (halted restoration), the fellow who painted it had it "tacked" together just enough to deliver it to the previous owner. It had no fender or cowl welting and fenders were...

I don't know how to post a link, but if you search for Life magazine, October 24, 1949 you can get the cover page and can search the issue. The Ford promotional page can be found, enlarged, and...

This license topper was part of a $100,000.00 promotional campaign by Ford Motor Co. in 1949. 25 Ford sedans, 5 stake bed trucks, and multiple savings bonds were to be awarded if you were lucky...

Model A Ford "models"

I have been all over the internet today looking for scale model cars of Model A Fords ( Roadsters). Kinda' seems the pickings are thin. Tried Motor Mint and other more expensive sites - can't seem...

Oil Blowby

I am getting some oil blowby from my oil filler tube. Not real bad, but it makes the engine compartment messy. I assume I have the old type filler tube baffles in the tube because I have an early...

Shock set

Received my shock set from Brattons this morning. The kit contained 2 right front shocks and 2 left front shocks. The shock arms are different (longer) for the rear, so I guess all is OK. The...

Radiator temps

Hey - It has been hot in WV this past two months - temps in high 90's most days. Went to Harbor Freight and bought a non contact thermometer to check radiator temps after a run. I register 180...

Re: AR Brakes

John LaVoy - Thanks for the tip on alternative adjustment. I will try that tomorrow. BTW - The hill I lose braking power on is not that steep - just long and curvy. Engine compression is good and...

Re: AR Brakes

I have the single piece activating arm, so I am good there. I have all the adjustments to specs, but suspect the steel rims. I have not had a caliper on them to check thickness, but the New rear...

AR Brakes

I have had my '28 Roadster on the road now for about a month. I am running steel drums and woven linings. The brakes seem to fade fairly quickly on a particular hill near my house. I have the...

Re: Wood clothes pins on the gas line

Went over to HAMB site to check out this question. Seems the wood pins work for some, but not others. The only function they could have would be as heat sinks - I thinks. ;) BW

Wood clothes pins on the gas line

I posted this under another thread, but I am dying of curiosity. A neighbor said that he used to put clothes pins on his gas line (Flat head V8) to eliminate percolation and vapor lock. I don't see...

Re: "Carburetor Cough"

Another remedy? Neighbor told me that flat head Ford V8's were prone to vapor lock and his remedy was to put wooden clothes pins on the gas line. Is he pulling my leg? I don't remotely see how...

Re: Leaking oil return tube

I had the same problem and tried the cork / copper gasket approach to seal the leak. Still leaked at the lower end. Black silicone solved the problem. Not Henry Ford, but it works for me. BW
