Re: 1936 water pumps

I think you will find that Skip's pumps and any others advertised as "new & improved" will only help if you have an underlying issue with your cooling system.
I've sent Skip (George) numerous pumps...

Re: for sale listing of the day!

So please explain why you would leave a ridiculous listing (by any sane calculation) up.
The only reason I have come to understand from your post is you are attempting to avoid a .35 fee?

If...

Re: 36 running board question. . . .

Don, Thanks for the clarification. What you say makes perfect sense.

I know 1939 / 40 passenger cars had a welt between the frame and running board. There was none between the running board...

Re: 36 running board question. . . .

John, I'm hoping Don Rogers weighs in here...
I can't imagine any reason there would be welt (anti-squeak material) between the fender(s) and running board(s).
Methinks the "original" cars you'd...

Re: 35 roadster drivers kick panel.

I'll stick to my 39's and 40's :) much easier methinks... Open cars had smooth finish panels while closed cars had the vertical embossed lines.

Re: 35 roadster drivers kick panel.

I didn't realize yours had a grain pattern. The '40 closed cars had vertical embossments that I carefully press for my restorations. Even the Lebaron Bonney panels sold for these vehicles in the past...

Re: 35 roadster drivers kick panel.

I'd suggest you go to a hobby store that sells picture matting (card)board for picture framing. Around here, Hobby Lobby has a good selection.
It (board) is available in about any color you can...

Re: Ford GT 2018 $1125000 BJ just now

Wow! Thanks for explaining that to me. I am constantly amazed at the high level of intellect some folks exhibit.
So, how did I do at this "Sar-chasm" thing?

Re: Found A Used 1940 Ford a Pickup Hood Ornament

Heck, I've explained to my wife that if my memory were as good as it once was, I'd gain 20#. Why? I must make a dozen trips daily to and from the shop only to get there and wonder why I went.

Re: Found A Used 1940 Ford a Pickup Hood Ornament

40Larry is correct.

Having restored a number of extremely high point Ford V8 models (aka "standard") as well as an extremely high point pickup, I should have known better. Sorry to have possibly...

Re: Ford GT 2018 $1125000 BJ just now

I've run a number of cars through Barrett in the past couple of decades and have found them to be a rather good outlet for cars that I'd wanted to sell anonymously.
From my experience, quite unlike...

Re: Found A Used 1940 Ford a Pickup Hood Ornament

Tom, The passenger car (Ford V8, aka "standard") as well as the pickup truck utilized identical hood ornaments. The handles were different.

Re: H6006 halogen head lights

BigJob offers some good advice. The hi/lo switch is often the culprit in this circuit in regard to the issue you are experiencing.
Many times by simply pushing that switch in and out rapidly a...

Re: ford aluminum heads

Pro? They are correct and unlike cast iron painted in an attempt to appear correct (they never do) the aluminum head will cool better albeit not enough to make a big difference.

Con? A good set...

Re: 1940 Brake Bleeding

Not certain if you are doing anything wrong or not.

Did you have a good pedal prior to replacing the shoes and cylinders? If so, we can pretty much eliminate a defective master.

You must start...

Re: is it ok to run diluted antifreeze?

Why not use it?
Anti-freeze does not dissipate heat as well as pure water.
