Yes: That is an issue as it will leak out of the engine through that area.
The babbitt on rear main is only secured by lag holes it is not fused to the metal.

Where the crank is rubbing the new slinger did the crank come in contact with the original one? How much end play do you have? Model A is .004-.006" if the babbitt was done correctly. Model A will...
