Ford Nut, Your photos look like fender welting to me. 3rd Generation Automotive (Michael Driskell) should have original style fender welting.

The rod pieces were originally crimped together using the metal collar. If you can't do that, then JB Weld them together using the collar

Black grille is a 35 and other is a 36. 35 grille will fit 35 pickup, panel delivery or 35 large truck. 36 grille will fit 36 pickup, panel delivery or 36 large truck.
