Hi boffins:

I have just had a branch new clutch and pressure plate fitted to my '31 Town Sedan and the judder as I pull of is so brutal that it tries to shake the car to pieces. Once it "bites"...

Re: Unfixable random cutting out

Hi Dave

Thanks... yes 95 octane you are correct. The only other option we have here is 93 octane (also unleaded) which is slightly cheaper too. I will try that for a while and see if I can detect...

Hi Guys

My sincere apologies for not having replied sooner and for looking like I was an ingrate and wasting your valuable time and kindness. That is absolutely not the case, I assure you.

Unfixable random cutting out

Hi Boffins

I have a problem that is unfixable but thought as a last resort to post the symptoms here and see if anyone in the World can figure out what is going on although I have basically given...

Re: Welded Wheel Studs onto Hub

@ Brent: When we tried to fit the hub to the wheels, we found that they would not clear the brake linings evenly, because they were (visibly in some cases) out of round. So we removed the hubs from...

Re: Welded Wheel Studs onto Hub

Hi John - only saw your post now. If I can get the chatter/shrieking noise on the front right sorted out I will leave things as is. But if not I guess I will have no choice but to replace the hubs...

Re: Welded Wheel Studs onto Hub

Hi Brent, Tinman, Updraught, Railcarmover, Dennis, Jim, Frank, Dino:

Many thanks for the input. Yip, it seems that we should have drilled out the old studs first, then swaged in the new studs. I...

Re: Screaming Speedometer

Hi Roger

Thanks - is the input shaft the place where the cable goes in? Or do I have to take the speedo apart?

Re: Screaming Speedometer

Hi Loubob. I have already replaced the cable, and the noise continues. The speedo is original and in outwardly superb condition and both the odo and the speedo work fine so am loathe to replace it...

Re: Welded Wheel Studs onto Hub

Hi Kevin: Yes, it does seem that the swaging can be done into cast iron no problem and I should really have done that I suppose. But I still can't find a proper technical reason why the route I have...

Re: Welded Wheel Studs onto Hub

Hi iverson. Many thanks for the reply. I agree that swaging is first prize because it is original, but is there any valid technical reason that the way I have done it is inferior?

Screaming Speedometer

Hi Boffins

My speedometer has developed a scream like a model airplane engine has been started inside my car. I disconnected the cable from the speedo and the noise has stopped. I took the speedo...
