Re: 29 Model A no spark on 2-4
By "move the GAV in and out" I think old31 means by turning GAV clockwise or counter clockwise, not by pulling the rod in and out. When turning clockwise, don’t turn it down real tight when it...

Re: 29 Model A no spark on 2-4
If it ran fine years ago there is no reason to check the timing. Sitting cars will not just fall out of timing. I suspect dist. body if you have determined that spark is getting through the dissy...

Re: Considering buying a T
MarkA, 15 million! My city has only about 650,000, and spreads out to about twice that, but traffic is nuts and you have to drive a ways to find a nice country road.
I just read “The Lost Man”,...

Considering buying a T
I’ve always been a Model A guy, but this is tempting. The seller says it’s all original, 90% complete, and was running when parked. Been in the family since new. It looks a little rough, but good...

Re: Birthday present
I was driving a Model A and towing a trailer made from a Model A PU bed along a narrow two-lane in rural Washington when two vehicles tried to pass me at the same time, a passenger car and a large...

Re: Birthday present
Maybe you just have the wrong insurance company.
Two years ago I made a $900 claim on a fender bender with my 29 coupe to Hagerty. Sent pictures. No problems. Paid promptly.
Same thing with my...

Re: Birthday present
My son-in-law once stated that he would just drive away if he ever hit a car in a parking lot and no one was around. I don’t like him, I don’t trust him, and I haven’t spoken to him or visited my...

Re: Model A Shock
I’m gonna go with “not a Model A shock”. The raised letters tell the tale. The RG&JS say all covers were stamped HOUDAILLE HYDRAULIC SUSPENSION

Re: Birthday present
I would suggest you do not take the fender off for any body work. Doing so runs a risk of it not fitting when returned. Do the hammer and dolly work with the fender bolted in place, then take it off...

Re: Model A Shock
Shocks are notoriously hard to disassemble. Your experience is normal. I’ve heard of guys bolting their workbench to the floor and the wall, bolting the shock to the bench, using a 6’ bar and a chain...

Forty years ago a friend (Tom) offered to take me and another friend (Jerry) to a county fair 100 miles from nowhere in his newly restored ‘29 Tudor. As we exited the car in the field that was the...

Re: Oil Leak Troubleshooting
Hard to tell where your leaks are coming from in the photos. Did you use a sealant on the gaskets? Did you check your pan for straight and smooth face to the block? Was the block clean and smooth...

Re: Kind of new to the forum
The most important part of painting is prep. You can do that yourself for about $100-$200 in materials if you have the space and tools, and depending on the condition of your sheet metal. Once you’re...

Re: 28 roadster steering wheel
Steering wheels were red in ‘28 and until Feb 1929, according to the RG&JS, which every Model A owner should have. What is the date on your firewall?
I’ve never heard of a column snapping. That...
