If you put GL5 in a gearbox with yellow metals it will discolor the yellow metals after several years. It will NOT dissolve them in a few minutes like most people believe.
This I agree with.

After looking a bit harder, I think we have an EAB long block with the truck stuff bolted on, (bell housing, exhaust, water pumps, generator, fan & early oil filter). Plus there is an oil filter lug...

The Steelpack Brockman's will be louder at the tailpipe than the other mentioned mufflers.
I have used Brockman glasspacks on several flathead powered cars & I love them, slightly less loud than...

The added length of the Mercury is forward of the cowel.
The motor and drive train is is in the same location as a Ford. The difference happens with the steering gear, about 4 inches more forward...

I ran a Winfield R1 in a 59A 60 years ago.
The idle was smooth as the stock cam.
A real Winfield, not a copy. A stock 8CM or EAB cam would probably perform better.

Yes this is correct.
Different color plastic for different years. '42 & maybe '46 being tan plastic, '48's that I've seen have been a "silver grey"
