Re: Mitchell Overdrive

I've seen several photos of an install with the shift lever. Could those of you who use a cable please post a pic?

Re: 30 Coupe Cooling question

Bob, if your were asking me about why the thermostat: a couple of years ago I my car was running fine, but had a tendency to get hot if I sat idling for more than 10 min. I installed a temperature...

Re: 30 Coupe Cooling question

At first I would fill her to the top of the radiator and didn't understand that she would find her own level; which, is just above the core. She would overheat if I sat idling for long periods in...

Gauge cork.

The cork float came off my gas gauge so I planned on replacing it with a new synthetic type. The float wire was to small of a diameter to fit the new float and I broke the float while trying to wire...

Angled

I recently backed my A out of the garage and let it warm up for about 15 minutes to do a compression check. The spot I parked in has a slight, 5-10 degree, down-slope. When I moved the car back...

Re: Need Info on Rear Bumper Flag Mount

I wasn’t worried about the bumper because I was driving at “parade” speed. My biggest concern was my clutch.

Re: Need Info on Rear Bumper Flag Mount

I used 2 small hose clamps to secure a large flag to my rear bumper. I use the outer, passenger side bolt that connects the two bumper pieces and tightened the pole to that upright piece. It held...

Re: Benefits of a thermostat?

I just installed a Vintage thermostat and; so far, I love it. I was running hot, so I installed engine pans and the she couldn’t get up to 120F LOL. I tried the cardboard without success, so now I...

Re: Grab handle

Sorry, but after 50 years, I'd be the one going. And as the Cap says "nobody else could put up with me and if she's younger, I wouldn't know what to do with her.";)

Re: Grab handle

Y Block,
I agree. That's a nice, kinda art-deco look. It would be perfect for what I'd like. Most new trucks with running boards have a handle for getting in and out.

Grab handle

Just curious about a design to mount a grab handle utilizing two of the dash mounting screws on passenger side on my coupe. My passengers, especially the captain, seem to reach for something to hold...

Re: Thermostat update.

Carl,
I didn't read the installation instructions closely enough as well as rushing the job. I made the mistake of putting on the unit before I checked the clearance for the temp sender (as...

Thumbs up Thermostat update.

In a previous post I told about not being able to get up to operating temperature since I installed engine pans. I drove around for a while with a cardboard shield over my radiator, but still...

Re: Cool Running

I drove this car to high school back in the sixties, year round, in Indiana and only drained the radiator at night. It didn't have a temperature gauge and at sixteen I couldn't have cared about...

Cool Running

I have an interesting issue. I installed engine pans on my coupe to help cut down on fumes in the cab and aid in cooling. I have accomplished both of these. My problem is that now the car runs...

Re: Does your Model A overheat ?

I was amazed that my temperature guage reads 20 degrees lower since I installed engine pans. Here in south Alabama that’s big.

Re: Slow turn over

The compression went from high 40’s and low 50’s to 60psi in all cylinders. I can see some difference, but people with high compression heads don’t seem to have problems. When I say “slow...

Re: Slow turn over

Okay. I’ll try the ground strap first. The current ground is heavy wire, but I doubt that it’s 00 or 1.
To answer the questions about rebuild and number of starts. I’ve put about 50 miles on her...

Re: Electrical woes

HOORAY. She's running, on borrowed parts. Thanks to my fellow club member, Jim, who brought boxes of ignition parts. Here's what we did: reversed polarity on coil and used an original distributor....

Re: Electrical woes

I did use gland rings, but I checked the fit first, without the gaskets. I finally got her to start...just. Saturday she started and ran, but not well. Yesterday I could barely get her to start...
