My 29 panel measures 1-1/8" high while my 31 measures 1/2 inch. It appears you are trying to use a 30-31 panel on your 28-29 body.

Bob, I will probably plug this hole but was going to use ferrous plug as I was considering sealing the block with sodium silicate after tapping and plugging and I didn't think the brass or copper...

Just be careful not to get the exhaust pipe too close to the fuel line on the drivers side or you will have vapr lock issues.

Got it apart by attaching a ratchet strap to the rear axle bulling backwards and a come a long on the engine pulling forward and driving the u joint forward through the grease hole in the torque tube...
