Re: Correct replacement for Fram C181-A?

Re: Tighten up 37 brakes

Re: 12 Volt battery to fit '40
Always use a group 24 in an under hood location.
Group 24 is always cheaper than any other size,
Everyplace that sells batteries stocks a group 24.
They were standard in a lot of cars including...

Re: Throttle return spring and baling wire
Number 8 wire in N.Z. ?
In Wisconsin we used no. 9 wire.
Last week I did a spring and baling wire to pull the clutch pedal all the way up to the floor on a ‘46 Mercury.
At least three of my cars...

Re: 53’ 239 Flathead Water Pump Mounts
I just did it. Well, two months ago. And I’ve done it before as many folks have.
I got water pumps from C&G for a ‘51 F1 pickup and installed them on a ‘53 8BA engine and set it in a ‘46 Mercury....

Back in the day Ford recommended diluting the gearoil with 10% kerosene in both transmission and rear axle in real cold weather.
If the gear oil is too heavy (thick) it will not circulate through...

Re: 600w vs 90w
I would definitely not use 90 gear oil in climates below zero F.
I would use 85W or 75W-90.
The best thing would be to ask other car owners and parts store people as well as mechanics.
I bought a...
