Re: whats the best & worst car to buy in 1930
"Buy a good used car" ... made me think. I'll bet back in 1930 era there no "good used cars" to be had. I suspect that used car stock consisted of only VERY used old Model T's and such.

Re: Signs, back in the day
OK Texan, I was wondering when someone would ask .... Caulked boots were (are) steel spiked boot soles that the old time lumber jacks wore, especially the men that road the logs down river.

Re: Signs, back in the day
Caulks ... that made me laugh. Some of the towns in Notthern Michign were said to "roll up" the wooden plank sidewalks when the boys were coming to town.

When I first read the title I was ready to chime in with some good advice ... Spring is the best time for Perch. Recommend a light spinning rod, 6 pound monofilament and good fresh emerald shiner...

Re: Original Grease Gun Rebuild
To answer Will N... the plunger does not act to force the grease into the fitting. The plunger only feeds grease to the small diameter bore at the working end of the gun, the reduced diameter portion...

Original seamed fuel line - Bundy Tube
Hello all, just came across a bit of interesting history. I was looking through "The Swap Meet" and saw a listing for original seamed fuel line. Being from the Motor City, I knew about "Bundy Tube"...

Re: Carburetor control
I think that "Ruth" got it right... Look close at the photo, the housing is stepped. This device controls the "in and out" of the choke rod in two measures steps, full out "start" , half out "warm"....

Trying to visualize this ...is it possible that the grease fitting is inserted too deep and is holding the spring, keeping it from retracting into the bottom. ??

Re: very early lugnuts on 28
Just as an aside, 23/32" apparently was a standard size nut. I encounter this size on occasion and have a couple of open end wrenches in that size. It's not truly 18mm as 23/32" converts to 18.3mm...
