Re: Trunk lid handle not locking

Most likely the small latch that moves horizontally when the key is turned has broken off. No fix for this that I know off. I had same problem. The suppliers do not have replacements in stock and...

Re: Adding Guages

To figure out how to wire an A so that the coil is after the ignition switch, search "8n wiring diagram", which is for a tractor. Sorry, I don't know how to post it here. All that's needed is a...

Re: How Many 2020 Miles Did You Drive

Didn't get my Coupe until September, so only managed 62 miles. Looking forward to 2021 if we can go anywhere! Gotta get that shot!

Re: (Yet Another) Electrical Question

I don't know about your ammeter part of this, but I do know that if you leave your ignition on and the points happen to be in the wrong position, you can cause the points to pit or actually fuse...

Re: Spark plug socket

Thanks Ruth. I would like to have the rubber insert but guess I can just use any deep socket. I want to weld a 3" extension on it, but was hoping someone sold something like that already made up....

Re: Cool Running

All my old Ford 8n tractors run 160 degree thermostats, They go into the upper radiator hose just above the water pump/head outlet. Doesn't anyone use these? and if not, why not? Look at them...

Re: 6 volt battery trickle charger & charger?

As mentioned, the Detran Battery Tender (6V) works great. I use them on all my 6 Volt tractors.....never had a problem with over-charging, but I did have one that quit working. Search them on line....

Re: Alternator Hasn't Kick In

My A will run a long time on the battery alone as I have a red top battery. My alternator acted the same as yours and I took it to an alternator shop and they said it wasn't working at all. Regular...

Re: Noisy Hood Hooks

I used 3/4" pieces of vacuum hose. Nice and quite and paint is not marred. Think I got that idea from someone else on this site.

Re: Does Your A Start Right UP?

Full retard; about 3-4 clicks on gas lever, GAV at 1/2, full choke till it fires. I have great vacuum reading (19) which seems to preclude manifold leak, and seems the throttle set at 3 clicks...

Does Your A Start Right UP?

I'm new to a 30 model A coupe. Have enjoyed putting in new points, plugs and timing, and rebuilding carb....just to learn how. I have rebuilt 5 Ford 8n tractors (done everything) and these old...

Position of Indicator on Choke/GAV Rod

Now I know this doesn't really affect how the car runs, but in what position should the little indicator on the choke/GAV knob be in when the GAV is closed?
It just dawned on me that the last time I...

Re: how to Remove Replace Rumble Seat Latch

Yeh...that slider pin is completely missing. I'll order a new handle and hope it fits. Maybe I should look down inside the metal metal lid and see if there's a pin in there. I'd like to keep the...

Re: how to Remove Replace Rumble Seat Latch

Okay...my dumb. I separated the seat back and got to the crown nut and removed the shaft. There seems to be a cross bolt missing that goes horizontally through the square hole . It must move...

Re: how to Remove Replace Rumble Seat Latch

How do you get to the crown nut? All I can see on the open side of the lid is a slot with the hook mechanism. I can't post a picture.

Re: Engine wont start.

Don't mean to start an argument about whether condensers need to be grounded, but I've found in my old 6 volt tractors that have a condenser screwed to the top plate, sometimes a patina will develop...
