Re: Flathead tuning tool—— wideband 02 sensor

I was running two 94s converted to EFI throttle bodies so the mixture was easily adjustable with a laptop. Max AFR I could run at idle was 12.5. I set WOT idle in the high 12s based in something I...

Re: Possible amazing engine deal, Rochester, NY

I'm not sure, copart.com is weird. It bid up to $775 I think and the auction was supposed to end this morning at 10am. I think the seller reserve was not met. Now there's a new auction going with an...

Re: Possible amazing engine deal, Rochester, NY

I thought about it but decided not to pursue because I don’t have space on my property to store and part out the wreck. Hopefully the engine finds a new home other than a scrap/recycling center…. Ken

Re: Possible amazing engine deal, Rochester, NY

Thanks Mike, it does look like a dealer, dismantled, or broker is needed to bid unfortunately. Bidding is at $550 right now with about 24 hrs left to go. Ends Aug 21 at 10am EST… Ken

Re: Possible amazing engine deal, Rochester, NY

I couldn't be happier with work Al did for me (2021). He basically did all of the testing and machine work on the block and supplied many of the parts including the nice Mercury crankshaft and a...

Re: Possible amazing engine deal, Rochester, NY

Right, the insurance company owns it now because I declined buying it back at $3.5k. I never added up my receipts but the engine alone was probably $5-6K for parts and machine work. Ken

Re: Possible amazing engine deal, Rochester, NY

Thanks everyone for you kind words of encouragement. Seth, unsure what will be next. I'm nearing the end of a Corvair Corsa restoration now and am thinking of going with a bigger Ford next like a...

Re: Possible amazing engine deal, Rochester, NY

Thanks for the kind words Tubman. The pelvis will take some time but the can move about some w crutches, and I’m thankful the injury was not more serious. It might take a few weeks for it to come up...

Possible amazing engine deal, Rochester, NY

Hi everyone, I had a major wreck in my 51 Ford on July 30 and it's unfortunately totaled. Thankfully there were no life threatening injuries, though I did break my pelvis. At this point I have let...

Re: 49-50 vs 51-56 crossmember/transmission mounts

Hmm, I swapped a 49/50 OD trans into my 51 and it seemed to be the same length. Different mount, crossmember, and trans side cover with the clutch pivot lower on the 51 I believe.

Re: Do any of you guys put seatbelts in your '30s Fords?

SoCalCoupe, I have a similar 3 point install from Julianos in my 51 Tudor, with the shoulder anchor nice and high. I was not able to get it as high on a Corvair hardtop I own, but came across some...

Re: Throttle body fuel injection?

Main advantages are faster starting after sitting for several weeks and perhaps 5-10% better fuel economy in my case. I thought it would quiet my wife down about the exhaust odor. Nope, the idle...

Re: Throttle body fuel injection?

Here’s what I did on my 51. All custom made unfortunately, using Megasquirt and junkyard parts, but works great on my newly built 276ci. The video is of the system running on my old 239

Re: 8ba 275 carb options

Torque without engine speed is useless. I can apply whatever you want with my arm and a long enough bar. Physics tells us that power moves and accelerates things including our Fords.

Re: 8ba 275 carb options

The Max-1 will make more power sacrificing low rpm torque. The book Flathead facts has nice dyno results. I think it is worth it… There is more lift so valve clearance needs checking.
