Re: A ground for running lights

Kube, I tried that and blew a fuse. So far I have not been able to find the fuse. In the process I broke another wire, not related to the lights, that is difficult to get to. I appreciate everyone's...

Re: A ground for running lights

I scraped off a spot on the bracket to shinny steel and tested with the test light. Still no ground.

A ground for running lights

Why would the front bumper brackets not provide a good ground for my running lights?

Re: Voltage to coil on 39 Ford

Mac at VanPelt Sales informed me that I had an aftermarket resistor and he sent me a genuine Ford resistor. I installed it and it solved my problem. I appreciate all of the advise I received from...

Re: Voltage to coil on 39 Ford

I overlooked the "disconnect" note. I have to leave for an appointment now. I'll check it further in an hour or two.

Re: Voltage to coil on 39 Ford

I guess I don't understand what you mean by "as suggested". I tested it going in and coming out and there was too much drop in voltage. As you can probably tell, I don't know much about electrical...

Re: Voltage to coil on 39 Ford

George, I checked the voltage going into the resister and coming out of the resister and it went from 6 volts to 1.8 volts. Wouldn't that isolate the problem to the resister? If I am only getting 1.8...

Re: Voltage to coil on 39 Ford

The car was not running when I did the test and I checked it at the resister. 6 volts going in and 1.8 coming out. It takes too long to start and it misses out at low speeds after the engine is...

Re: Voltage to coil on 39 Ford

After reading all of the above, it sounds like I need to replace the resister because I am not getting enough voltage to the coil. Do y'all agree that is what I need to do?

Thanks so much for all...

I have a 39 Ford with the original 6 volt set up. I have 6 volts going to the resister and 1.8 coming out of the resister and 1.5 at the coil with the ignition on and the motor not running. Shouldn't...

Steering not smooth in a lefthand turn

I have a 1939 Ford DeLuxe Tudor. When I turn the steering wheel left it hesitates when I get to the 3/4's of a turn of the steering wheel. It then takes a little extra effort to go past that point....

Re: Working the plan?

This must be the shop you were telling me about when I was in your shop last Friday. It looks very nice. By the way, I put the extra coil I had on my 39 Ford and it is running very good. Thank you...

Re: Misses out when the cooling fan is on

The only thing running through the ignition switch is the trigger switch for the fan and the lights. The fan and lights are running straight off the battery through a relay. They are separate relays....

Re: shock absorber kits

I just installed a rear tube shock kit, with a sway bar, from Drake. It has made a world of difference in the handling of the car. Particularly in the cornering. I'm glad I did it. I also put tube...
