James, 51woodie's suggestion is "the best". Also, make sure there are no cracks or pin holes in your float.

James: Good King Seely gas tank sending units are really hard to find.

Rather than try to pry apart that connector, I leave the connector alone and cut the longer straight part of the rod with...
