Re: Walker Radiator
I would put Brassworks on the top end of the list . . . and they're surely not a "second best" in the quality department. Also, they do a lot of custom work - from 100% stock style, to modifications...

Re: 32 spindle bolts
He Pete: There is a big 3/8" thick or so roller bearing that sits just below the head of the king pin - the weight of the car is held between the top of the 32 - 34 spindle and the bulbus top of the...

Re: camshaft profile
Given Pete and his knowledge, that would not surprise me one bit. Also, I bet very few (if any) of the aftermarket cam grinders really did anything different for 32-42 engines versus 46 - 53...

Re: 266 versus 276 CI?
With a 3.217 bore and a 4" stroke (my assumption you're using a Merc stroke crank), the CI will be 260 cubes. As others have said, it will not make that much of a difference in the end - it is more...

Re: camshaft profile
You'd have to degree them in the appropriate block in order to truly make sure that the graph is correct for the given cam. I just may have to do that "some day". LOL

Re: 1932 Carburetor adaptor
If it was me, I'd switch over to a 34 manifold and run a Stromberg 97 or 48. Obviously, you'd need to run the correct generator . . . which is not a bad idea anyway (cooling is better).

Re: German H-block?
Couple Observations:
1) Center Keystone Water Port: Is shaped differently than any block I've seen in the USA - has a radius in the lower portion.
2) Lower Keystone Water Port: Is also shaped...

Re: camshaft profile
This above posts are exactly why I posted about what does '5-T' actually mean . . . I bet it is NOT a grind number in that the one I looked at earlier today is from the mid-30's and I'm sure that...

Re: camshaft profile
I'm not sure what everybody thinks a '5T' or '5-T' cam really is? I've never seen a 'T5' - did some of you guys transpose the number/letter up above?
I've seen the '5-T' markings on plenty of...

Re: 1932 Ford
I know they are different on a 34, so I imagine the seat is wider on a 3 window than the 5 window . . . but I'm not sure.

When you see a Gmail account where the first name has a bunch of numbers after it - it is a good first indication to beware. They rapidly create these accounts - and obviously it is not their name,...

Re: Rear axle shaft loose, banjo 38
You need to use about 200 Ft lbs on the big nut on the end of the axle. I know this makes ones rear-end pucker as you're struggling to put that much torque on it . . . but this high torque number is...

Re: Black single stage paint.
If you're stripping it down, then I would try to use a quality epoxy primer as soon as possible over the bare metal - using a metal-prep beforehand, re-scuffing after it for good measure (before the...

Re: Black single stage paint.
The single most important parts of the job are the prep work and quality of materials.
Are you planning to strip the paint off of the car before you apply new paint? I hope so - especially if...

Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead
Looks like you do not have any sort of crankcase breathing system in it? I don't see the stock road-draft tube setup and I don't see a PCV . . . does it have one?
If you don't have a custom PCV...

Re: Head bolt sealant
I use ARP Teflon stud/thread sealant - comes in a tube.

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole
If you plan to build the engine with all it's components, it will weigh around 500 lbs (depending on heads, manifold, etc). I would not hang that much weight on 3/16 angle iron - I would want a...

Re: Adjustable lifter problem
I've seen very thin jamb nuts on these lifters in various engines - I can't see a reason why this wouldn't work - you just need to find a supply of them.

Re: Adjustable lifter problem
What is going on with the 'Squeeze' is that you're altering the amount of thread "offset" between the two sections of the adjuster - causing the interference to be tighter. Essentially the locations...

Re: Can I save this engine?
Since you got it all apart, it may be a good block - who cares how rusty all the parts were that came out of it. Since it is a 40 Merc 239, it is a very desirable block for a larger overbore. I...
